Welcome! We are dedicated to service
to our community, especially its youth and charitable causes.
Chartered on April 26, 1926, eleven years after Kiwanis
International was created, it is the oldest club in Division 26 and the
second oldest club in the Contra Costa County. Originally meeting in
the Martinez Veterans Hall until 1955, we moved to the Kiwanis Youth
Center and have been there ever since. On April 26, 2006 we celebrated
our 80th anniversary.
Over the years, its members have included city and
county officials, federal and state court justices and judges,
educators, clergy, doctors, dentists, military professionals, national
park rangers, lawyers, bankers and a host of women and men representing
many professions. Kiwanians are a cross section of our community,
serving our community.
We meet for lunch every Thursday (except holidays) at
noon at the Kiwanis Youth Center, 750 Allen Street in Martinez. Our
agenda generally is:
12:00 Lunch (catered by Wilma Lott)
12:30 Sing America, pledge to the flag, invocation, sing a few songs,
announcements, business discussion, happy dollars and a raffle.
12:50 Program - either a guest speaker, panel, film or other topical
1: 20 Adjourn.
